LANCE VANCE MISSION SET CONTINUED:

 

'From Zero to Hero'

 

    This is the final mission in the mainland. The eastern island will be unlocked during the mission. Lance has been doing his research. He has found that the big shipment coming in is Martinez' coke - this persuades Vic to come. Your first objective is to get to the docks in the same Sentinel XS. You can activate the 'Trip Skip' option to arrive straight at the next objective and avoid all this, by pressing UP, if it is your second or more attempt. The two trucks with the merchandise are at the end of the docks, being protected by an assembly of thugs. Lance will run on ahead, follow him and stay as close to him as you can. Use an AK-47 or an SMG to take out the men as they pop into view. Take out the guards that shoot Lance first, and the ones that are taking cover behind the crates last. If Lance's life (shown by the Lance meter) is used up in the middle of the shootout, you will fail the mission. When the final guard is taken down, a short cutscene will initiate showing Martinez fly over in a Hunter helicopter. Hit triangle when the screen fades back in to enter the truck (Flatbed).

    Lance is waiting in the entrance in the second truck and you must follow him out to escape to the island. Do not lose Lance. Stay close to him at all times. A damage meter will have appeared to the left of your screen. If it drains, the truck full of merchandise will be destroyed and the mission will be failed. Two cars will hunt you down and try to drive-by shoot at you. You should be driving a few feet in front of Lance, to use his truck as protection from the firepower of these men. If you have the opportunity drive them off into street walls or trees to keep them at bay, then do so. Take the shortcut through the police station car park and when you come out onto the highway cross to the opposite lane to Lance to trick the drivers intro crashing. When you arrive at the south bridge another short cutscene will spark. Your next objective is the most difficult. You must cross the bridge without being destroyed by the rockets Martinez will fire from his 'copter, or falling off the sides of the bridge. The game will go into a distant view, so that you can see Martinez ahead of you. Drive very fast and swerve from left to right according to where the rockets are fired - If a rocket is shot at one side of the bridge, speed to the other close enough so that your vehicle is screeching across the side rails. If you do this part right, it is possible to complete this mission on your first attempt. When you get to the other side of the bridge, Martinez backs off when he sees the police barricading the road in a cutscene, leaving you with the last objective - the home run. Your damage meter is still there and you have four stars to deal with - which means VCPD Enforcers jumping into you, roadblocks of VCPD Cruisers and/ or Enforcers and more. Luckily, you are not too far from the apartment in Ocean Beach. Just keep up with Lance, driving on the inside of him and at a steady speed, to get there nice and easy. You are now free to roam the new streets of the island! Follow the Safe house icon to save your game at the fancy new apartment Lance has bought you in Vice Point, 'The Clymenus Suite', which overlooks the fairground.

    A radio announcement on the bridge opening to Vice Point and Ocean Beach will be made by VCNN and Louise will page you asking if you still have time for her, you will be doing missions for her soon.
