'Vigilante'
Arguably the toughest odd job in Vice City Stories. With 15 levels of hardcore vigilante in the menacing metropolis, VC, you'll be wanting some tips. You can let the law into your own hands in many vehicles; VCPD Cruiser, VCPD Wintergreen, VCPD Cheetah, VCPD Enforcer, FBI Rancher, FBI Washington, Barracks OL, Hunter and the Rhino. Criminal suspects are marked with a red blip on the radar. A message will come up at the start of each new level telling you which vicinity the suspect was last seen. It will also reveal whether they were in cars, on bikes or on foot at the time. Criminals sometimes swap vehicles if they are dismounted, or their car is set on fire. As the levels increase, you will have to kill more criminals and they will be primed with more effective weapons to stop you. You have a new time limit for each level which is often between 3-5 minutes.
The vehicle you choose is crucial to how easy Vigilante is going to be for you. Criminals up as far as level 2 can destroy anything up to a Barracks OL, via drive-by shooting, so you would have to place backup cars in your garage and/or keep returning to the police station to get a new one. This is not the way to go about it, as you only have 30 seconds to get back to a vehicle and finding one on the streets near to you is a rarity. Your best bet at success would be to wait until you reach the Beach island and get 6 stars. When a Rhino comes along draw an assualt rifle and aim to the gap at the front to wipe out the soldiers inside, then; hop in, store it in your garage, save your game to clear your wanted level, go back to your garage, get in it and press UP to begin. The Van Kaff on the Beach hotel, directly opposite the Malibu Club is a good place to try, as you can shoot from on top of the garage ledge (walk across the wall) and collect the police bribe nearby once you've jacked the tank. If the criminals are on foot get out of your vehicle and approach them on foot with a grenade in hand, throw the grenade into the pack and take them all out at once.
