November 8th , 2010 – Presentation Evening 2010
Last Friday the annual club Presentation Evening was held at the Royal British Legion Club in Pontnewydd. The night was well supported by members and their families & friends. The buffet was wonderful as always and entertainment was provided by Nicky Smiles, who proved very popular. Congratulations to all those who picked up awards for this year's competitions and special congratulations to Cliff Crew, who recieved the prestigious 'clubman of the year' award. Photos will be added soon so watch this space!Finally, a reminder that the club AGM meeting will be taking place on Sunday November 12th at around 11:30am.
November 8th , 2010 – End of Season News Round-up
The 2010 outdoor season came to a thrilling climax a few weeks ago when our club gained promotion to Divison 2 in the M.B.A. league! The club scraped through following a nailbiting final few fixtures against New Tredegar B.C., Beechwood B.C. and Islwyn Park B.C. We finished in 2nd place in the Division 3 results table with 106 pts, just 7 points behind eventual winners, Nantyglo B.C. who topped the group with 113 pts. Also joining us in the next division will be Beechwood B.C. who went up on points difference ahead of Belle Vue B.C. (after both teams finished the season level on 104 points). The remaining club competition matches were played during the first couple of weeks of September. The second weekend in September was finals weekend. Jason Power clinched victory in the club championship final, beating Gavin Morgan 21-18, despite a shaky start. Gavin went on to lose all 4 finals he was in!
